Accountability Activity

"Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will
We give a new Life, and life that is good and pure, and
We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions."
 -- Qur'an 16:97

Asalam aleykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu.

Dear sisters,

As we approach life, first and foremost I want to appreciate you for being the best version of yourself. I am pleased to see that you have come so far and have grown so strong that you may not even be able to recognize the person you have become. Good or bad, you have succeeded, you have fought those fears and you wear that smile so beautifully. Keep it up girls; I am with you every step of the way.

I just want to remind you that we all have accomplished a few of the many things on our lists. We all have different or the same goals, to-do lists, tasks, whatever you want to call them and maybe some of us have gotten the opportunity to finish those lists we make every year, week, month or even daily. I know it’s a long list because as soon as you reach the end you find yourself adding more things to that list, and sometimes we actually go through that same list and delete a few of those things because our priorities, responsibilities and focus changes. Life tends to play a game, just when we think we have made it to the end; you actually are at a new beginning. However, for those who haven’t had the chance to finish that list yet, “It’s okay!” Because the truth is that we all are in a race with ourselves and not with each other. Therefore, you do your best to beat yourself to the end of that list.

With each passing day, life may have brought with it a few challenges, but I like to look at them as milestones, because challenges are lessons. Therefore, we will look at them as blessings in disguise. Each challenge has helped you in some sort of way, and the best way it can help you is bringing you closer to The Almighty. Any challenge that can bring you keener to Allah is a good thing. Alhamdulillah. Hence, before we begin the let us attempt to make goals that are realistic and are achievable. Do not put too much pressure on yourself, because goals are only achieved when they are not forced. Start with small goals and build up on them as you become more comfortable with them.

Due to the challenges we are all facing, I am sure that we may sometimes feel less motivated to do anything, but this is no excuse. We can achieve all sorts of things while at home. So, I will do an accountability challenge with those who are interested, and I will share my results with you all as we go along. You are welcome to email me at chiajiddawy@gmail.com or text me on WhatsApp at +16475427781 to connect with others on a similar journey.

Every 3 month the group will check in on the members and connect on how each person is doing with their planners, where you have fallen short, what you are working on now, how do intend to keep going and so forth. I understand that we all have other priorities in life, therefore in case of an emergency I created a WhatsApp group to help talk to any of the sisters. We will share as much as possible through email and text and if one would like to talk please contact myself or the other sisters at any given time.

Sincerely,
F. J

Dear sisters,

What’s an Accountability activity?
The accountability activity is a process or an approach for clearly outlining the “responsibilities/goals” that one needs to do as part of their life. We use this system to help us gain back control of the little things we intend to do in a daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly timeframe. It is like a project plan that helps you by providing additional emphasis on ensuring that you have a support system to help you achieve your tasks/goals in a timeframe expectation.

Why accountability activity?
Most of us have goals but we start out super strong and somewhere along the way we fall short. Though we feel bad and regret about it, reality is that without a friendly reminder it becomes easier to quit on yourself. Therefore, like the alarm clock or the adhan we hear before each prayer; we your sisters are here for you. This group will help each woman achieve their goals and keep doing it well as we grow and branch out.

How is the activity placed/programmed?
The first step in this journey is write down your personal, professional, spiritual and/or educational goals. Knowing that you will work your best and honestly give yourself time to achieve each one. Second step is to review your goals, objectives, and focus areas with another sister or with a group. During this step you will give yourself a timeframe of when you would like to achieve the goal. For example, I want to read 10 psychology books by the end of year 2021. This is hard but it is possible: one, I am able to read one book a month; two, I know I have two extra months just in case I fall short. Thirdly, as partners or group we will take the time to break down our goals into daily, monthly, and even weekly enabling goals. This process helps you prioritize and organize yourself.

Sincerely,
F. J

Dear sisters,

The following documents are downloadable and printable for free to use. Each activity will help you in your accountability journey. I will keep uploading more files as we go along.

In shaa Allah (God willing) May we all find the time and strength to keep going.

Sincerely,
F. J
